Maami Cooks – Strawberries covered in Chocolate

Well well well! It’s been too long! Considering I am such a foodie, I am ashamed!

Let me make up with a divine and easy peasy dessert….Strawberries covered in Chocolate

PS : psssttt…Valentine’s Day is coming up!

dhjskl;

Ingredients

  1. Strawberries
  2. Chocolate melts
  3. Dipping mix – edible stars, 100s and 1000s, coarsely powdered cashews and almonds
  4. Icing in a bag (optional)

How-to

  1. Wash and dry your strawberries
  2. Line up your cups or cupcake wrappers (pick some pretty ones, okay?)
  3. Line up the dippers (mentioned in dipping stuff above)
  4. Microwave chocolate melts for 50 seconds, stir and repeat until it is melted
  5. Remove the chocolate, pick up a strawberry by its leaves and dip
  6. Coat the strawberries in as much as you need (I always go right up to the top, you can just do half too)
  7. (Immediately) dip the chocolate covered strawberry in your dippers (Else it will NOT hold)
  8. Place it in the cups/cupcake wrappers
  9. Serve 🙂

See? Less than 10 steps and its all done!

Tip – use hard cupcake covers and not the ones like below. It sits well, and easy to eat. Else you will have crumbs all over!

Who can resist them??

Craft Of The Week (COTW) – Paper Roll into Wall Art

I love crafts! Very few don’t. I am an avid follower of DIY blogs and like to keep my hands busy. Here’s a little something I made from toilet kitchen paper rolls. I saved up about 6 of the rolls for this lot 🙂

And it takes a regular – craft glue. There’s no need for fancy pants hot glue guns, strong glue etc…see? Easy peasy!

OOTD – my first!

I have always been fascinated by the confidence of the bloggers with numerous OOTDs. One word that resonates with me when I see OOTD posts – CONFIDENCE. Totally admire them. Delving into details of the post, I have always been in awe of the way bloggers manage to pull an outfit together. The details, the accessories, the colors, the poses, the cameras or the cameraman/men. ooofff!!!

In Melbourne, time is something that I have plenty of. Between little cooking, very little housework *wink* that I do, I find myself thinking of matching my clothes into “outfits”. I’d love for a stranger to complement me on what I was wearing.

I also follow Supria at Sushy loves blush. Her pictures attracted me to the blog, they are so classy. Her OOTDs are so simple, so everyday life-like. Its what I’d normally wear to the movies, someone’s house for dinner or a day trip outside Melbourne.

So…long story short, posting my first OOTD. I’m still in doubt whether to do this or not. But? What’s life without the risks?? Here goes…

The pictures of this OOTD are from my iPhone camera, please excuse me this one time 🙂

Nameplates – a super quick DIY

IMG_1026

I always wanted a sit down reception at my wedding. Ever since I was asked to stand & collect gifts at my aunt’s wedding in 1994. We attended a Christian sit-down dinner reception for my father’s colleague soon after, the whole idea just bowled me over. When we planned our Indian wedding, we listed 500 guests and obviously it was IMPOSSIBLE to do a sit-down dinner reception. We ended up with a typical bride & groom on stage for 6 hours – smile until the jaws ache – shake hand – nod head – drop down tired reception.

I arrived in Melbourne…and things were different. My PILs hosted a reception to introduce us…for 70 of their guests! Sit-down dinner….here I come. PILs weren’t too fond of the nameplate concept….but I persuaded and here’s what I did.

Things you need

a. Card paper – we bought a 2 sided glittery white card stock kit

b. Clips – we picked a peach/honey coloured star and heart shaped ones

c. Scissors – I didn’t have any, so I bought a set of these fancy ones. You can just use plain ones if you want

d. Glittery Hearts – aren’t they gorgeous?

Steps

a. Cut the card stock into 2 pieces from this one. Officeworks also has the single sided ones but no glitters, it looks a lot like cards

b. Trim the edges with fancy scissors (optional step)

c. Attach the glittery hearts on the cards

d. Pen the names and clip them on to glasses or the name holders

Don’t they look cool? I loved the end result!

Other uses for this:

a. Instead of the clips, you can have children use them crayons & sharpies to pen down personalised cards – name plates or thank you cards

b. Print the names. I love writing…but if your handwriting looks like a pair of chickens walked over….print them
